Haircuts We’ll See Everywhere In 2025

Now that the year is coming to a close, there’s a sense of anticipation, change, and renewal for 2025. That means it’s time to think about a new style and ditch our old hairstyles. 2024 was all about volume, and Texas hair was one of the biggest trends of the year in more ways than one. We also saw a rise in fluffy bangs thanks to Sabrina Carpenter, who has had a stunning style transformation since her teenage years. We know trends come and go, but it’s always fun to hop on the latest and experiment with different styles. What better way to be a trendsetter than with the haircut you’ll see everywhere next year?

We don’t have a crystal ball here at Glam, but we did consult with hair and makeup artist Luna Viola, a red carpet fashion expert, to find out which haircuts are trending for 2025. You’ll be happy to know that there are a number of different options, and whether you’re craving a dramatic chop or want to keep your length, we’ve got you covered.

Expect to see all types of bobs in 2025

The classic bob will always be in style, and hair expert Luna Viola exclusively told us that we’ll be seeing all kinds of variations of this style in 2025. “Bobs are definitely here to stay in all shapes and sizes. From the micro mini bob to the soft layered Italian bob, the jaw-length bob will be a huge trend, whether it’s edgy or shaggy,” she shared. If you’re looking for a big change, the micro mini bob is for you. Just as the name suggests, the cut is super short with the blunt ends grazing the chin or shorter. The style is meant to be worn sleek and will perfectly complement your low-key luxe or understated luxury look.

The Italian bob, on the other hand, is worn a little longer and messier. While the micro mini bob has a uniform length, the Italian bob has layers around the top of the head to give it movement and volume. This haircut is ideal for those who want to wear it short but would like to have options for different hairstyles. Whatever your choice, you’re guaranteed to look ultra chic.

Textured wavy shags are a hot take on short hair

Shag haircuts were popularized in the 1970s and are now back with a vengeance. To give this style a modern twist, hairstylist Luna Viola suggests asking for a textured shag with some added waves. “The wavy shag is a grown-out pixie with shaggy texture, sexy and chic for all occasions,” she described. As opposed to a cut with severe edges, Viola claimed that the trend for 2025 is all about sporting a lived-in look. “All short haircuts will have a natural finish with soft waves or movement, minimal products and will look very spontaneous,” she exclusively revealed to Glam.

The best thing about shags is that you can wear them as short or as long as you like. The biggest factor of this style is the choppy layers that are meant to look messy. You also need some bangs to balance out the ends, or you’ll end up with a mullet. If your hair is straight, create some waves with some texturizing spray and a curling iron. Try not to make the curls uniform as the end result should look tousled like a rock star.

Curtain bangs are here to stay

If you’re looking for a slight change for next year and want to keep your signature style, consider getting curtain bangs. Luna Viola predicted in our exclusive conversation: “Face-framing curtain bangs will continue to be a trend going forward, best paired with long, soft layers, à la Sabrina Carpenter, to soften the face and allow for a more relaxed, natural look.” This type of fringe works with all hair types and is perfect for those who don’t like traditional forehead-swept bangs. It’s also low-maintenance, meaning you can let it air-dry so it falls naturally along your cheeks.

Curtain bangs are extremely versatile and can be cut to suit your face shape. Try going short and sweet like Carpenter if you have a heart-shaped face, while those with round faces should opt for a wispy cut that skims her cheeks. Rectangular faces will want longer bangs to soften their features and oval-shaped girls can rock pretty much any style. When in doubt, always consult your hairdresser, he or she will know what type of curtain fringe will suit you best.

Go bold with a modern mullet

When you think of mullets, you might think of the cutesy hairstyle worn by musicians in the 80s. However, these days, they’re much more glamorous and modern, with a modern twist. Hairstylist Luna Viola describes it as a combination of “edgy and retro,” adding exclusively to Glam: “This super choppy, shaved layered cut is becoming popular. It’s great for people who want to have a fun style without losing length.”

Mullets aren’t for the faint of heart, so if you’re looking for something edgy, this is the style you want. Zendaya debuted an extreme one in 2016 with super-short bangs and choppy layers in the back. And, in 2020, Miley Cyrus showed off a shorter version with the tips just above her shoulders. However, if that’s too drastic for you, you can go for a subtle style that looks more like a trendy wolf cut. With so many variations of the modern mullet, you’ll never run out of different ways to rock it.

Give your long hair romantic lengthy layers

We have good news for long-haired people in 2025: long locks are in and the new year will be all about layers, according to Luna Viola. “A long layered haircut is a timeless style that will always be in style. It’s versatile and suits most face shapes and any hair type,” she exclusively told Glam. With this style, Viola thinks big, voluminous waves will be perfect for adding glamour to your look. If you have naturally wavy hair, you’re already halfway to achieving a dramatic updo. Section your damp hair into sections and use a large round brush as you direct the blowdryer from roots to ends. Make sure not to use the highest heat setting or you risk damaging your strands.

If you have straight hair, use a large barrel curling iron to give yourself incredible volume. Starting at the roots, wrap your dry hair around the straightener for a few seconds and then release. Hold the curl in your hands until it cools and spray it with hairspray. Repeat the process all over your head until it’s full of big, bouncy waves. When you’re done, run your fingers through your hair for a slightly tousled look because, after all, there’s nothing more romantic than freshly styled hair.
